It seems to me that the position of Waterfront Director should be zeroed-out entirely. It is clear that many units of WWU that are doing excellent things right now will suffer from the proposed cuts. It also seems clear that there will be very little for the Waterfront Director to "direct" in the near, or perhaps even the long-term, future. It is also time for all of the boosters of the WWU on the Waterfront movement to put their money where their mouths have been; I (and many of you) have repeatedly read, and heard, assurances that lots and lots of private developers will step forward to build our fine Waterfront Branch Campus. So, if the position of Waterfront Director is actually important, and if that person would have things to direct, then I propose that this position be funded entirely by newly-donated cash. If the boosters of the Waterfront can really raise the many millions of dollars that will be needed for that project, then a $100k or so should be a simple task.
