It seems, to me at least, that many of these topics get turned into really nasty bitch sessions and attacks on and from various people. I totally understand and respect that people are frustrated with certain things around campus/society in general, but a lot of these posts are just outright nasty.

I do understand that it's easier to have an argument get heated when the people don't know one another and are communicating over the internet HOWEVER in an effort to bring back some positivity to this forum, I think it would be cool if we got a list going of the things/people/evens whatever that we LOVE about WWU.

This topic thread is a hate-free zone so if you feel the need to attack people, please click the little "back" button and do it on another thread!

Thanks!

just kidding, sort of, cause I'm supposed to be nice on the forums now.  But there was a thread about this a few days ago.

Anyway, to contribute: The teachers are great though, at least all the 6 I've had thus far.

Bond Hall

Bond Hall is a stunning example of late mid century modern architecture.  Unfortunately, the interior character was lost in the renovation :(

I love...

Just about everything. Especially the people. I think the friendliest people in the universe attend Western Washington University.

Apparently Student_Accounts didn't get the memo about being nice in this thread.

Anyways, I love how beautiful our campus is. My best friend went to Central and when she came to B'ham and saw our campus, she couldn't stop saying: It's so green here! Look at the trees... there's so many of them. And the mountains...

When I visited Central, I understood her amazement at our campus.

I came from WSU and I really appreciate that Western values the liberal arts and I think the professors here are amazing.  I transferred because I was sick of being taught by grad students and I have to say the change has improved my view of the collegiate atmosphere.

This whole thing just reminded me some postings about spit on campus... and a lot of people startied harping on not just the copious amounts of frozen spit but everything else on campus.  Here's what I think.

Since that post I saw less spit on campus. That was evidence to me that people at Western read that and thought about the post and maybe tried a little harder to think about people around them.  It seems to me as well, that the number of people riding their bike during busy times has decreased (another tangeant of the aforementioned post).  I'm not neccessarily offended if people bike or spit.  I just thought I noticed that people listened and made a real effort to be considerate of things said on the post.  It was cool!

I love (with all the strength of the word!) how being thoughtful of others is a culture here at Western.  We've all had bad mornings where we did something rude or snappy, but overall people at Western are very friendly and courteous here.  Just the other day someone saw me get excluded from a line for the hot water and let me cut in front of them to be next.  And if you've ever dropped something on campus there is always someone to help you snatch up stray papers or someone in class to share notes with.  I LOVE that!

Thanks people of this university!

what i love

i love the atmosphere around campus - it's just friendly.

i love the fact that i can walk through red square, smile at strangers and they will smile back. even though everyone is in such different positions and lead such different lives, as we walk through the campus, take the bus together, take classes together, heck even participate in this forum together, we are united!

:)

 This is very true, thank

This is very true, thank goodness. I still find myself rushed and pissy just trying to get around campus, complaining in my mind, and imagining different ways of telling the slow-walker in front of me to get out of my way, but when I catch someone out of the corner of my eye who has a smile on their face or is being helpful to someone else it snaps me right back to where I should be. You know, not being an asshole. Being considerate of others really isn't that much of an effort once you consider the "warm fuzzy" feeling you get knowing that you've probably made someone's day a little better than it would have been.

Long story short, I can't describe how much I appreciate the people who take the two seconds to grab the elevator, pick up the papers on the ground, or just do something small and considerate for other people. I do see a lot of this at Western, and I hope people continue to spread the goodwill.

I've also seen an awesome

I've also seen an awesome amount of kindness here that you don't see a lot of places. That's probably one of my favorite parts about Western. Exchanging smiles with strangers is always nice, door-holding, etc.

spring time

Well this being my 4th and final year i have seen many great springs. my favorite part of WWU is all the blooming trees especially the big cherry blossom tree that splits the path over by Old Main. Springs always put a smile on my face to see all the trees and flowers in bloom and the sun beaming down(most days).
I will miss that and my new favorite is the AW building site being done i'm glad i was able to be in a class and utilize the building before i departed from school. Hopefully they get all the gardens in that area done up nicely this winter has kind of destroyed them.
