Hey everyone!
The Fellowships Office is considering holding four one-hour classes on applying for scholarships. Each session would cover a specific topic and students would be welcome to come to any or all of the sessions. It would be a non-credit course (more like information sessions than anything else), and they would probably be held in late April and May (probably one hour a week). Before setting this up I wanted to post on the forum for student input. Would anyone be interested in this? What times work for you? We were thinking of holding them either midday or in the mid to late afternoon.
Each session would focus on a specific topic...
The first session would be a General Information session covering the basics of applying for scholarships such as GPA requirements for certain scholarships, a timeline for applying for scholarships, and the function of the Fellowships Office.
The other sessions would be on how to write a personal statement, how to write a research proposal or academic CV, and how to request good faculty recommendations.
Like I said earlier, these would be pretty informal, and you could pick just one or two to go to or all of them.
So, anyone interested?

I would definitely be interested in this! I've been trying to apply for scholarships all year but it's really overwhelming and sometimes confusing as to what is required and what they are looking for. It would be very helpful to know how to apply for scholarships so that I actually have a chance at getting said scholarships.
Great idea!
