For those of you who use Mozilla Thunderbird for your western email, here's how to use the new email system with it.
First, create a new account
file -> new -> account
email account -> next
Enter your name and email address (username@students.wwu.edu) -> next
select IMAP
enter outlook.com as your server -> next
enter your email address (username@students.wwu.edu) as both user names -> next -> name your account -> finish
click on your new account and select "view settings for this account" -> server settings
under security settings sellect SSL -> okay
You can now receive email from your western account.
To send email, go back to account settings.
On the left hand side, at the bottem, click Outgoing Server (SMTP) -> add
name the description however you want
under server name enter outlook.com -> port 25
make sure 'use name and password' is checked, and put username@students.wwu.edu as your user name
make sure TLS, if available is selected -> okay
Go back to your western email account settings.
Under outgoing server, select the one you just made (will be named whatever you put in the description)
That should be it, good luck! Sometimes thunderbird takes some fiddling if it doesn't work, but this worked for me.
