Hey I was thinking about getting the X pass for the rec center, what are your experiences with it? What classes did you like/dislike? Is it an actual pass that you have to bring with you (I'm not a fan of carrying things around the gym) or is your name on a list? Thanks guys! I look forward to reading your feedback

I've gotten the x-pass every quarter this year, and in my opinion it's worth it. Paying $40 for the pass gives you incentive to attend as many classes as possible, just to make it worth what you paid.
My favorite class is ab lab, but I've also tried spin (which is kind of intense, but if you're into that sort of thing, it's a pretty good workout) and yoga.
In my experience though, for the first week or so (not counting the free trial week at the beginning of the quarter), the instructors are very vigilant about checking for x-passes, but then after that they never check... at least not the instructors I've had. So it's your call, I guess!
With my experience I think it's definitely worth it. Routines get old after a while at the gym--you can only run on the treadmill so many times until you're bored. Only get the X-pass if the class times work with you, and the best are either very early in the morning or late afternoon. My favorite classes have to be spin, step, and any of the ab classes. I would definitely recommend you get it!
Well now that it's halfway through the quarter, it's dropped down to $28. So if you figure it's $3 to drop in, that's about 10 classes for the rest of the quarter. If you go twice a week for the rest of the quarter, that's about 12 classes. So yes, worth it.
This is my first quarter using the X Pass, but I used to register for individual classes before last year.
I go to Beginning Mat Pilates, and it's really good! I tried Spin, but 6:30am just doesn't work for me.
I got the x-pass fall quarter and it was definitely worth it! I was in the bellydancing class (really fun!) and all of the ab lab classes, a very good workout, plus the instructors were pretty cool.

You actually have to bring it with you, along with your Western card. It's just a little piece of paper thats the same size as your ID. You can also pay $3 for a drop in pass as long as the class isn't full, if you wanted to try out a class to see if you like it. Also, it's past now, but the 1st week of classes is free trial week and you don't need the pass to get in.
