College Republicans/Conservatives Groups...are you out there?

As the former Executive Vice President for Western Democrats for two years, I can certainly understand your concern.

We tried multiple times to work with conservative student groups on campus to have events that were informative (debates or forums) as well as fun (volleyball or kickball games). Unfortunately, there doesn't really seem to be anyone who wants to take on the task of leading something like College Republicans, or if there are, they certainly don't know how to go about reinvigorating the club. My suggestion to you would be to talk with Matt Jarrell, our current VP for Activities to get information on how to start the club up again.

Another idea is to go to the meetings of Students for Civic Engagement, a non-partisan club started last year for the purposes of welcoming all ideological backgrounds and encouraging discussion and participation. They hosted viewings of the Presidential and Vice Presidential debates in the fall and are hosting a forum on healthcare on May 15th with local state representatives from both the Republican and Democratic parties as well as local leaders in the field of healthcare.

I was certain that some anxst forelorn teen would be the first reply to this thread--thanks for maintaining the status quo bonehead!

I will take note of your suggestions.  It might be the perfect time to reinvigorate some difference of opinion on this college campus.
