I had two attempts to search for a topic lead to non responding Internet explorer windows, then everything worked fine with Google chrome....just me?

Which "search function"?
Are you talking about the search bar at the top of this website, or the one built in to IE?

It's the search function for the forum.
It's not just a problem with IE (IE 8 is actually a pretty good browser, by the way... just throwing that out there). It crashes in my copy of Opera, as well.

Here's the simple solution to your problem: Don't use a browser that sucks and has no regard for web standards.

I WISH I could say -- use
I WISH I could say -- use Firefox -- but it appears that 39% of you are still using Internet Explorer. SO, as a temporary solution I changed the search box to a link, which works in Opera and IE, though it is still really slow in IE. I will be doing a major upgrade over the summer which I think will fix this problem and I will then move the search box back to the front page.

The search has froze for me too using internet explorer. I haven't tried other browsers.
