I'm taking the West-B: Washington Educator Skills Test—Basic  on May 30th.  I'm wondering if anyone else is taking it and would want to arrange study groups to go over the material?  Let me know and we can set up times.

Thanks!

I haven't taken it yet, but

I haven't taken it yet, but I've heard it's super easy, just time consuming.

west-b

it is really easy, but it is laborious.  a lot of people didn't finish when i took it.  don't stress about the content because you can't really study for it other than looking over practice problems.  just try to be efficient

Good luck. It wasn't

Good luck. It wasn't terribly hard. I did it a couple of years ago when I thought I would become a teacher.

I used a study book that was geared towards the test. I don't recall the name of the book, but it helped me a lot with how to do specific math problems and how to write better. While the book was helpful, the answers in the back were not. There were problems my mom and I both did separately (she has a degree in accounting, so she's good with numbers) and got the same answer each time, and the books were way off. I wrote the company about their answers. Some even said D was the answer when there wasn't even a D to choose form...things like that so I know I was not off with my math.

The test had a lot of math problems using formulas...I think it was algebra and geometry at most...and the writing had a lot of stories written, try to find the errors, and there was one or two essays where they present a problem to you-a situation in a classroom-that you are to answer.

WEST-B

I have already taken the WEST-B last fall.  The test itself is equivelent to an 8th grade WASL test.  Basically all the information is at the 8th grade level.  For the math section, I used a pre-algebra textbook I found at Micheal's Books to study with, and it was extremely helpful.  You will have five hours to complete the test, which seems like a long time, but it goes by very quickly!  A note about the writing portion - there are two questions to write about.  Do not save these to the end because they are lengthy and require ample time.

I took it last quarter,

I took it last quarter, didn't study and passed with flying colors...I PROMISE you, you DON'T need to study. It would be a waste of your time! It is SO easy...just takes a lot of time (about 4 hours)
Don't stress :) And good luck!

My girlfriend and I are

My girlfriend and I are taking it on the same day and also would be interested in carpooling, so someone can send me a private message if they'd be interested in doing that. Thanks!
