Alright - so Lexus (the car manufacturer) has randomly selected customers to offer a chance to win their new hybrid. My mom was selected and graciously passed her invitation on to me! - given as I really need a car, and can't afford it since I'm paying my way through school. Once you are invited you have to get people to vote for you - and the person with the most votes wins the hybrid. Here's where you - the students of Western come in. Perhaps many of you can understand what it's like to need a car, but just don't have the sufficient funds. Or perhaps many of you are as passionate as I am about the environment and keeping high emissions vehicles off the road.
I'm an avid cyclist, so I ride most of my way around town. I get myself to the grocery store and anywhere else I need to go, but there comes a point in time, when you think "maybe having a car would make this easier." I've been harassed by motorists since day 1, I've had things thrown at me: bottles, ash trays, cigarettes. I've been yelled at, called anything you can imagine. And I've even been hit by a car, but was fine, may my bike RIP. My commitment to cycling stems from my passion for physical fitness and sustainability. I've paid my dues, I've been cycling around this town for 4 years, and I think it's time I deserve to have a car. I need your help - each and everyone one of you - to get the votes - to win this car!
