Lately, I've been looking at classfinder and it seems every Theater major class that doesn't require a Prereq is full.
Being a freshman who hasn't registered yet I didn't have a jump start to get into these.
But I'd still like to do something related to Tech Theater fall semester.
So how would I go about being involved in the Technical Theater at WWU?
I have experience in running crew, props, building, technical painting and I've done a spotlight job or two. If anyone knows how I could get involved, let me know.

I am a Theatre minor and have taken many tech classes. THTR 255 is probably your best bet for the fall. It does have a prereq, but if you talk to the Theatre department you can probably get it waived. The instructor, Marcus Todd, is new to the department and I unfortunately do not know his contact info.
Common tasks for 255 include spot light operation, sound board operation, set construction and run crew. I would highly recommend that you e-mail or call one of the Theatre department faculty and tell them what you are interested in and ask for their suggestions. David Saxton (Lighting and Sound) would be a great person to start a dialogue with. As would Roger Germain (Scenic Design), although he can be a little hard to reach and sometimes is a bit cranky.
You can find a full listing of Theatre staff here: http://www.wwu.edu/theatre/department.shtml#faculty
In the past I have really enjoyed working with Mark Kuntz and Patrick Dizney, but they are all (generally) friendly and helpful.
Another great group on campus is Student Theatre Productions. You can check them out here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2201132559
Best of luck and welcome to Western!
