Not sure if this is the right place to post but...

I'm trying to figure out the best way to get from Bham down to Seattle. I can see how to take a WTA bus from Bham to Mt Vernon but I don't see anything from there? Anyone know how it works?

Thanks!

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. I've had the best luck checking the amtrak website; you can get bus and train information in the same place. I checked googlemaps, and the bus stop-slash-train station is a few blocks from campus.

Yeah, take the 90(?) bus from

Yeah, take the 90(?) bus from Mt. Vernon to Everett and then the 510 to downtown seattle. The bus from Mt. Vernon is Skagit Transit and the 510 is sound transit. Just look those up online for the schedule and the trip is cake. It takes a while and the connections are infrequent but it serves for good people watching and reading time

With Student Advantage...

With a Student Advantage card Amtrak and Greyhoud bus tickets are pretty cheap, so if you're looking to save time that may be a good way to go. If not, I know it's doable (like the person above me said) to just do public transit, if you want to save as much money as possible. Good luck!

Good Link

I found this student-run website when I was wondering some of these same things. It has a list (and detailed explanations of) the many ways to travel to or from Bellingham. I hope it helps! transportation.as.wwu.edu/regional.php#local_transit

i take this run almost every friday. you take the 80x shuttle to the parka dn ride. from there you board the 80x to mt vernon. then you wait like ten minutes, (depending on when you go it could be right when you arrive) and ake the 90x to everett. hope this helps

amtrak

I just take the amtrak bus or train. its like 20 bucks each way, but i know there's student advantage and stuff, if you plan on doing it often, that will save you some money.

Or, there is always public transit, but I've never taken it to seattle so I can't really give my input on that.

80X Bham to Mt Vernon -

80X Bham to Mt Vernon - free

90X Mt Vernon to Everett - $2

510(?) Everett to Seattle Downtown - $2.5

513(?) Seattle Downtown to Lakewood $0.5 w/transfer from 510

I do this route regularly.

miborovsky has the costs down

miborovsky has the costs down for the buses. I used to attend UW and would come up on the weekends on that route. You have to be on top of the times because the 80x and 90x stop running at a certain time, but the trip usually took about 3 to 3 1/2 hours. Not bad for a few bucks, especially considering Greyhound takes at least two hours. You can make it extra fun and make it to Everett in time to take the Sounder, but that will drop you closer to the waterfront in Seattle rather than 9th and Stewart.

getting to seattle

once you take the bus to mt.vernon there is a bus that goes to everett, and then from everett you can transfer to seattle. If you time it right the bus trip will take about 3 1/2 hours. I think you can look up the schedules online for the skagit bus system and king county also.

Miborovsky nailed it.

I have also taken that route, but not in several years. These sites may help. You can use the king county trip planner to get to specific places in the seattle area, but I cannot speak to it's effectiveness. Again, it has been years since I have made this trip.

You can pick up the 80x from the lincoln creek park and ride or from downtown bellingham. There are also usually good rideshare opps on craig's list and on the village forum.
