Heya! I was thinking about starting up a SC club, and was wondering if there were any other RTS gamers out there who'd be interested in joining. We'd probably try to meet once a week, and play games/discuss strategy. I'm no bigshot myself (d/d-), I just really enjoy it, and would love to get better at Starcraft. GLHF! 1a2a3a4a

i would love to play, but i'm not great by any means necessary. but we gotta practice before SC2 comes out. lol, you should recruit at the Korean Students Association, i bet you'll find some gods there.
I would totally be down to join a SC club. I'm d/d- with not nearly enough free time, but I think an SC club would be a lot of fun.
totally down for this, although I do need to get a copy of the game as I don't have it on this computer. I can't wait for Starcraft2, been dreaming about it since forever ago and drooling over it since the website for it came out. Never played online or against human players, but I think I can hold my own :)
Anybody call for a medic?

Think you might be in for a nasty surprise... :D
lol yeah, dude...seriously you need to play online a bunch. you're just gonna get destroyed :P not that i'm any better lol!
Hold on, let me blow all this dust off....oh there's my SC disc!
I think the lady doth protest too much. I'm not worried at all, :)
I would be interested in a SC club, when would everyone like to meet and everything? I only checked this forum becuase i saw starcraft on it, so i really dont even know how to get back to these forums, but if you all want to make a club im totally for getting in on that.
douglaspocock@hotmail.com <~ me.
I used to play alot, alot, alot, but recently i havent even looked at my disc, but i think i may still have it. if not ill definately buy a new one.

I LOVE playing Starcraft: Broodwar!! Protoss is my thing and I've become great at defense games. But I definitely want to learn how to play FFA or team wars better... :[
You call the shots.
EdwardsBella is my sn. So if you're ever online, add me and maybe we can play a game! :D
At the moment, it's looking like we will have a preliminary meeting sometime this weekend.
Does saturday work for people? Or sunday, I guess? (i'd rather saturday, tbh)
The exact time is still up in the air, as is the location. Possibly some common room or something? Anyone have keys to the fairhaven stacks? Those rooms are pretty good...
btw, Locke, you probably will be destroyed. But we will rebuild your sc game to a point it was never at before!
-edit: Also! don't worry about not having the discs/game if you'd like to play. We have extra.
Oh man, this made me laugh so much when I saw the topic as one of todays popular ones! I've never played against anyone other than my friends, and I'm probably pretty terrible. But I would consider joining a Starcraft group :]
just find a time to go game on lan
I live in BT, which is technically Fairhaven, on the 3rd floor lounge, which is almost always relatively empty...so in answer to your question, yes
Saturday sounds good. We could just meet in the Vu or a Fairhaven lounge around 2:00pm or something. I'm assuming this is just informational meetings for now?
If anyone just wants a practice partner or just to play a bit feel free to message me on the village and I can give you some contact info.
lets get a Dota club going while were at it!
Saturday at 2:00 it is. We'll meet at the Fairhaven main lounge - if anyone is unable to attend, remember that this is merely the preliminary meeting. Though... if you'd like to have input, you should probably shout out, or e-mail/PM me or something. We'll decide there on the name of the club, officers, etc. Also, if you'd like to play a few games, bring your laptop and we'll try to get some sc going after everything else has been decided upon.
Feel free to just drop by if you'd like to play some sc, even if you decide not to join the club itself.
Maybe i'm the only one on campus who doesn't have a laptop...
I would love to join a SC club. I'll try and make it to the meeting on saturday!
hell ya man, i play all the time on battle net mostly fmp maps, lets do it or atleast hit me with some of ur screen names so we can game!
Awesome! I easily spent twice as much on Brood War than doing homework in middle/high school. And by twice, I mean much more than twice...
A BW club is a great idea! Sadly, I cannot make it to the first get-together :(
lol i'd be down, I can see if my friends want to come too, but ya i wont be able to come to the first meeting
What if we combine groups, I'm sure there's some spill over of gamers to gamers. Check our forum post, I added some of your names to the running list of gamers on battle.net (it'll be easier once Battle.net gets the haul over to the new system)
Anyways, if you guys want I think it'd be cool to have a larger gaming community on Western, a larger club, that in itself would meet and exchange other games to play or try out.

dude the BT internet connection sucks hard! its impossible to play dota, HON, or any other game without have some sort of delay lasting longer then 3 seconds! have you had any problems with it when running games?
yes it sucks from like 6-12
after midnight its pretty fast
Actually, as I have nothing yet planned for the rest of Saturday evening, I shall probably just stay there, in the Fairhaven lounge, so anyone who'd like to meet at a later time, perhaps PM me? Or even if you want to meet me tomorrow to exchange contact info, 'cause i'll probably be hanging out on campus then, too.
The reason I had wanted to go for a specifically Starcraft club, is because I think that in a larger gaming club, we would spend too much time playing lots of different, though also fun, games instead of getting good at them. i think we'd never really be discussing strategy in that case, which is one of the main points (for me, at least) of the club in the first place. I really want to (and yes, i know it sounds corny and academic) create a positive learning environment for anyone who wants to get better at playing SC:BW, and to teach the basics of the game to new people so that when they go online, they don't just get crushed by dt's and 7pools. which is about as fun as it sounds.
also, some people have expressed interest in some ums map play, and i think that if we want to, that can certainly be scheduled in as well.

Huh, well, I've never had a single problem with the speed of my internet at anytime of the day

Get your games prioritized here.

Doesn't work for peer based games. Might work if you prioritized everyone playing in the game, but that would kind of defeat the point of it being peer based.
I don't have the game but I'd love to join a club. I just need to barrow it from a friend or if you still have extra registration codes that would be amazing. Tell me when the next meeting is, I'll be there.
Great idea and thanks.
Also.... Anyone play D2?

Is HoN peer-to-peer? I was going off my experience with LoL, which is server-based.
Edit: and actually, it does work, if the peer has the same IP address over time.
SO! For anyone who's interested, there will be a starcraft meeting this wednesday if at least two people contact me and want to come. It'll be from 6:00 - 10:00 in FA340. We will try to decide regular meetingtimes that would be good for the most participents, and will certainly play some starcraft. Bring your laptop, if you have one (even if you don't have starcraft on it atm- we can supply that) and come have some fun!
update- we don't have room 340 yet (there's a film class in there atm) but will get it around 7ish. i'd be happy to talk strats, etc, beforehand. we'll be in there in a little while tho.
Yea! I love to join... I suck at it and hope that the club can make me better... Does any have an extra disc? I lost it several years ago when I moved up to Bham. and I do have a laptop

A SC club would be great. A friend and I play on bnet and a bit on iccup (not beyond d though). I'm sure we'd both be game to get more gameplay in and work on builds/timing/technique together. I know we both mainly need to work on our basics for awhile before we can really progress any. I don't have much free time but would definately join and play when I can.
