I've been writing some...poetry...I guess you could call it that. But I really could use some help restructuring it to a song lyriccal form. Also help with a  tune is appreaciated but I'm more lost on the structure...

Now I know it would have been smarter to start with a tune but I don't want to trash what I have written...

I'll post the lyrics but I'm worried they will get inter-jacked. I don't want plagerism please!

I'm a musician/songwriter as well... It's not really clear what you're asking here, do you want advice/tips on how to go about writing a song, or do you want someone to take your poetry and turn it into music?

aint nothin to it but to do

aint nothin to it but to do it! Don't let things like structure or convention be a stick in your spokes, don't worry about them. Just play around on a piano/guitar/synthesizer/voice for awhile and you'll find melodies of your own you never even knew were there.  Creative ideas are always lurking but you just really have to mine them sometimes and most importantly DO NOT worry about sucking.   Congratulations and good luck on this noble aspiration!

Poetry into songs...

Try reading it out loud with a drum machine in the background. When you find a beat that fits, you can structure it to fit that beat, and it will be easier to change the words into a song format. Poetry and song really aren't that different. Then, once you have the beat figured out, you can tailor a melody to fit it.

Hope this helps :)

.

Try singing it in Red Square to random guitar chords.  Seems to work for a lot of people.

BA-dum CHING!

But seriously, there are a ridiculously large number of ways to go about writing a song. Probably one of the more traditional ways is to write the melody, find chords to go underneath it, and then write lyrics to go with the feeling you think the song should convey, then arrange the song in a way that best expresses the lyrics. Something like that. But again, that's just one of a pretty much infinite number of ways to write a song. I really like the suggestion to recite your lyrics to a drum machine or something of that sort. Think of the way the lyrics best flow, and try to write a melody to fit it that way. Try not to put emphasis on any syllables that shouldn't have emphasis. I was going to try a visual example, but the formatting is next to impossible to get down. It's hard to explain over the internet. Hopefully that explanation made some sense anyways.

In any case, good luck!
