Has anyone else gotten a ticket in Lot 14G (the one off of high right before the branch to N. Garden)? I parked there after 4:30 on weekday to go to the library.  When I came back theres a ticket.  To my knowledge that lot use to be "any valid wwu pass all other hours".  I have a C lot pass currently.  Going back today I saw the sign has changed to "valid parking ticket only".  Did they give any notice about this change and if so, it seems kind of bogus to pay for a lot pass only to have to pay 1$/hour to use another lot after hours.

Parking in the C Lot

How about the C Lot entrance? The pots hole are awful. Maybe they could get somebody out there to fix them.

Nooo kidding! I would imagine

Nooo kidding! I would imagine that with at least a little portion of the $80/quarter parking fee, they could afford to smooth those potholes over or SOMETHING. They aren't car or bike-friendly.

As for the parking permit issue, I never noticed or really paid attention. I'm a little paranoid when it comes to those things -- I'd rather park on the street or my lot than risk a mistake ticket or loophole in the rules or something.  But it seems really strange, I don't really understand all the fees. Like I said, $80 should be sufficient. I honestly don't even know how they justify charging so much when parking almost always seems to be overfull anyhow.

Or, maybe I'm just irked =)

Pothole

Maybe the grounds crew thinks the potholes are natures own speed-bumps .  One option would be to stop driving and ride the bus, although I'm sure that wouldn't work for everyone.  But maybe if enough people traded in their lot pass for a bus pass the university would have to consider lowering the price just to get people to buy them.  Ride the bus around town, take the train or the greyhound home, there are plenty of options for a smart college student to make their way around the state that don't involve your owning a car.

They do have someone out in

They do have someone out in the C lots with a backhoe fillingthe potholes, its just been raining to much for the holes to stay filled. 14G is open to only 14G from 7am-4:30pm then at 4:30 you have to have any G lot permit on campus to park in G lots. Then after 7pm you can park in any lot(except R lots) with a valid permit(bus pass included). It takes 2 seconds to call up the parking office or UP to ask, you can't just park anywhere you want because you don't know any better. College students, this is real life now, time to act like adults. In the real world you will get a ticket if you park somewhere your not suppose to, you can't just claim ignorance to the police when you get a ticket.

If your talking about the lot

If your talking about the lot that's right next to the PAC, the lot's hours are till 7pm. AFTER THAT,..is when we need to pay for parking, or have your Bus pass/western id displayed on the dash. (i dont know for sure,..but i would expect the C lot pass would work this way too) either way....you just cant park there before 7.

as a music student,..i've recieved so many tickets from that lot that that's what i've learned through trial and error.

I parked there around 6 one

I parked there around 6 one day and I made sure I read the sign. It did say after 4:30 you need a C lot pass or bus pass. I really don't know why you got the ticket.  I did wonder about that though, because last year it was after 7. You can fight the ticket. Take a picture of the sign. I wouldn't think to call the campus police if the sign states that you can park there after 4:30 and I am 33, so I have been an adult for a while.

after hours parking

I understand the confusion with the signs saying permits required 7:00am-4:30pm, but the reason they say that is because those lots are faculty/staff lots, and they can park after 4:30pm with their permits, students however, have to wait until 7:00pm.

I know the 4:30 thing also is a bit confusing because when the pay boxes were down last spring and summer, more lots were available at 4:30 because you couldn't purchase parking. That may be why some of you didn't get tickets in the past when parking between 4:30 and 7:00. However, now that they are up and running, you have to pay $1 per hour. If you don't want to do that, the C lots are always free after 4:30.

Like I said, if you have a G

Like I said, if you have a G permit you can park in other G lots after 4:30pm but if you're a student you have to wait till 7pm to use your bus pass or any other valid permit(ex: C lot permit).

I agree that the potholes in

I agree that the potholes in the C lot are brutal.  Even crawling at 2 mph is a rough ride in some spots.  But I'm okay with it because I live by WCC and driving is simply much more convenient than taking the bus.

For the future I would recommend parking in the same lot all the time (C or wherever you have a permit) and remember to put up your permit if it's not on your windshield.  It doesn't take long to walk.
