Have you lived in Taylor Heights Apartments? Any feedback about them would be greatly appreciated.

Living there now

I'm renting in Taylor Heights this year, and I find it just fine. It takes less than 15 minutes to walk to South Campus and it's easy to get to Sehome, Fairhaven, and Downtown (by bus usually). I also like having a livingroom, which I prefer to having the somewhat larger bedrooms of Viking Gardens with no common space (besides kitchen). The internet can be frustratingly slow, but that is mainly in the evening when people are just getting home.

Thanks! A friend and I

Thanks! A friend and I checked them out yesterday and really liked what we heard from the landlord. The website policies seemed a little sketchy, though. "Management may enter the unit area at any time, without notice, to inspect its cleanliness and to show a potential tenant a vacant bedroom." Has that ever happened to you or is this simply something they have to state because one day they may check up on things? Also, how strict are they on the no candles/no holes in the wall policy?

I have lived in Taylor

I have lived in Taylor Heights. Depending on who you are living with can really determine how good the place is. If you have a bedroom that is next to the hallway it kind of sucks because the walls are like paper thin and you can hear people walking through really well. The internet is pretty crappy I must say.

Just be sure your bathroom buddy is clean and you live with decent people since they assign you to a place unless you have someone in mind that is already living there. I have also found it to be a little difficult to live with international students maybe because of the cultural differences and language barriers but that could just be me from my experience living there since I didn't have a very good one. Don't get me wrong I have lived with international students before living there so who knows.

Another thing about Taylor Heights is that the building is a bit old and not well taken care of. No matter how much you clean it, it will still look dirty.

But it is really easy to get to school and a good walk. It's also a plus to have utilities included at the time of winter because you can keep warm without worrying about your bill all the time. I have met some pretty cool people living there so it is all what you make of it I guess.

Thanks for your input! That's

Thanks for your input! That's helpful information. Do you know anything about University Heights at all? Are they cleaner? The building looks a little newer.

University Heights seems to

University Heights seems to have the same interior layout of Taylor - I didn't notice any diferences when visiting some friends there. The building itself does look a bit nicer - the the previous poster said, Taylor Heights will forever look dirty for some perplexing reason.

Also, we haven't had any instances of the landlord randomly showing up - they don't seem to inclined to that sort of thing.

Do not rent from there

I lived in taylor heights 3 years ago  and I was a dump, to put it nicely. The walls are paper thin, there is rampant crime around the area (my car was broken into the first night I moved up there), and it takes the management forever to come out and fix things. The model they show you is the nicest apartment in the whole building, carpets are dingy and gross brown. The rooms are horribly small, you cannot fit much inside, and even though the main living area looks roomy when you first tour it, there is very little room to live with 3 other people. I would say avoid it and save yourself the stress. There are better places to rent just as close to campus, and they might be more expensive and not have internet included, it is very much worth atleast looking into.
